Web Feeds
What is a web feed?
A web feed is essentially a list of content. Generally the feed contains a list of links, with associated titles and descriptions. The feeds are distributed without formatting, so the feed reader (usually either a website or email client) can display the information anyway it chooses. Silostock Site Creator makes creating and reading web feeds easy. Create a web feed, add some pages to it, then add it to your site. As you add pages to your feed, the page where your feed is included will be updated with the new links automatically - even on third-party websites!

Can my web feed be displayed on another website?
Yes. Provided the destination site has the ability to read web feeds, you can simply provide the URL of your web feed and your feed will display on the destination website.
How can users subscribe to my web feed?
As an alternative to reading your web feed on your website, your users can use an email client capable of reading web feeds such as Mozilla Thunderbird or Yahoo Mail and have your articles delivered to their inboxes like email.
How can I expire content in my web feed?
The most efficient way to expire a link included in your Site Creator web feed is by changing the Max Items for the feed you are using. If your feed has Max Items set to 5 and you add a sixth linked page to your web feed, the oldest page in your feed will not be displayed. However, the number of linked pages displayed on a third-party site is configured on the respective site.
Alternatively, if you delete a linked page from your web feed, it won't display on your site or a third-party site subscribed to your feed.
Can I add any additional information to my web feed or linked pages included in it?
Site Creator web feeds are based on the accepted official RSS 2.0 Specification written and maintained by the Technology Department at Harvard Law. We've intentionally not included all of the available options from the specification document in order to make entering feed information as simple as possible. If you see an element listed in the specification that you'd like to see added to Site Creator feeds, let us know and we'll include it in a future release.
